Today's Prayer, Renewal of the Mind

I am not going to neccesarily elaborate, but I think we could all take Phillipians 4:6-8 a little more seriously when we read it,

Prayer for today: God; keep my mind fixed on Whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and loveable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious.  If there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, I will THINK ON and WEIGH ON and TAKE ACCOUNT OF these things, in The Sons perfect and Holy Name.

Anybody can use this, not just the Christians, I am going to wake up everyday to this prayer, amd I bet we all see something different from it.  Glory to God y'all peace...

Psalms 91

KJV is the only real way of reading the book of Psalms:

Psalms 91:  This Psalm describes ongoing sovereignty, and eternal protection over his people in the never ending dangers of the world we live in today.  To me, this psalm looks like a battle is about to take place as its setting, all of the terrors the Psalmists writes of aren't neccessarily very specific or defined, which means the writer wrote this as encouragement that no danger is really worth describing; since none can overcome us.  We as God's people can't be hurt by anything, unless God permits it, and even then he is there protecting us of greater evils over the world.  One of my Favorites now: Psalms 91

Bolded words are parts I find really capturing to my heart, or very encouraging
Underlined are parts I may describe over in the side section

(Psalms 91: 1, 2) Confidence in our God
[1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
(v. 9)
2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.] (v. 9)

(Psalms 91: 3-6) Vague descriptions of the dangers
[3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. (v. 6)
4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. (cf. Psalms 57:1)
 5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.]

(Psalms 91: 7-13) These are some examples of how confidant his safety is in God
[7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. (We're only spectators amidst disaster) (See next verse)
 9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.  (Satan Misquotes in Matthew 4:6 hahaha)
12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.]
 (cf. Ps. 58:4)

(Psalms 91:14-16)  The LORD's Pledge (this is God speaking a promise here) EXCITED!!!!!
[14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.  (Love is a deep longing for God, and these are some blessings described by God himself for whom those that know and love him receive.)
15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.] (cf. Prov. 3:2)

There you go, encouragement to keep people's spirit's up throughout the day.  When I think about the event's that happened last night, I honestly believe that God had a purpose in it all.  God showing his sovereignty to us, and his protection of the lady (it could have been MUCH worse), and the fact that everyone was still at church to be there for everyone... really really paints a beautiful picture of God's saving plan as well as his sovereignty.  I love my God, and if you Love and Know him as your savior today, you also get his pledge of protection and can dwell beneath his wings in all your days of affliction. :) (:

Grace and Peace, brothers and sisters Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Be The Armor!

Ephesians 6:14-17
Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Going on to Verse 14 we get the actual pieces of armor but before then, the first thing said in verse 14:

"Stand firm".

Guess what Spartan's TONIGHT, WE DINE IN HELLLLL!!!!!  We are to stare this beast directly in the face, we aren't cowering, we got our Armor, we have the word, Satan already lost, we are looking at an already defeated "God of the world."  "Belt of truth, buckled around your waist" why would wearing a belt be the first piece introduced by Paul, and it is as important as being the "belt of truth?"  Great question!  I am making a personal judgement here (Grab your grain of salt).  A belt sort of "ties up loose ends" of clothing, and a Roman warrior battling back in the day could have been truly hindered by loose armor flailing about during hand to hand/melee portion of combat.  A belt, would have been a great asset as far as allowing free movement, and keeping his clothes bound tightly to himself.  Therefore a spiritual belt, one of truth, would be ordained to tie up the loose ends of truth, or truthfulness perhaps?  No untruth hinders you, in the Christian, you aren't a hypocrite you fight with sincerity, you are self disciplined in the word of God which is all truth (cross references?  2 Timothy 2:4; Hebrews 12:1).  Sound ok? (grain of salt down)

Breastplate of righteousness

Well a breastplate protects a heart, a vital organ, a spiritual breastplate is bound to do the same thing for your spiritual heart, and it is the breastplate of RIGHTEOUSNESS, or HOLINESS.  This is the master armor crafted by God for us to preserve the very thing that separates us from the world....  Our Holiness, found in Christ who lives in us, is that which truly; sets us apart from the world.

Boots of the gospel (Cross reference Romans 5:6-10)

Ok didn't know this about the boots of battle back in the boonies :) but the boots that Roman soldiers wore had literal nails in them, which were used to, sort of, attach yourself to the ground for combat :)  Look it up.... and the peace part?  Well it is another piece of armor, therefore it isn't going to be a gospel of WAR!  Gospel means "Good News" that we as believers have our peace in God, and walking in his steps haha pun hahahaha pun.....

Shield of faith

Shields back then, were HUGE!  About 2.5 ft by 4.5 ft. which were used to protect the entire body of the user.  The faith part of it is putting our entire trust in God, not about putting our trust in the body of believers so much (though Paul talks about that in 4:13) this part of the armor maybe the most important part, it implies of our trusting in God's eternal Word and Promise to back us up from every sort of temptation and sin the devil wants to send at us.  Fiery darts, is a spiritual/Physical image of the fire arrows people used to like shooting at stuff back in the day to put you on fire.  Very important to have a big shield, if you don't want to be put on fire, from fiery arrows.  Solid advice for anyone.

Helmet of Salvation

Ok, this one took me FOREVER to find out about it, but it is vitally important, so I made sure I got this part down.  Helmet's protect your heads, and in battle if your head was cut off, you were dead until further notice.  The Armor that Paul is talking about is obtained after Salvation, so why would he call this the helm of salvation? (LORD OF THE RINGS MUSIC ENTERS BACKGROUND)  Well believers are to be consciously aware (in a spiritual sense, not so much a physical, though the thoughts we have in our day to day lives very much play a part on how we are) Satan's going for our weak mind's and using his tool's of discouragement and doubt to make believer's question their very beliefs and salvation.  Next time I start going through that, I am gonna remember my spiritual helmet, and how it probably has alot of spiritual strikes on it.  Though it can be made stronger in the renewing of your mind.  We as believer's since we get this piece of equipment, we can be confident in our worth as a Christian being saved and remaining Holy even when our mind is beating us up, and doubts are sinking in.....

Sword of the spirit

Finally we get a weapon!  This is, unfortunately our only weapon, but I think that most demons would attest to this being a very VERY terrifying weapon Cross reference, though not really, but the Verse in James 2:19 is seriously EPIC!  ((had to Mikey)).  SO!  A weapon forged on the Truth of the Word of God is gonna be mighty indeed, way way way more terrifying than anything Satan wants to be a butt and use against us.

HAHA!  As a Christian, though you don't see this in the physical, our weapons aren't carnal, but we do get his truth to strengthen our understainding of each piece of Armor.

One last thing to add, this Armor is ordered and checked by God himself, our General, the only one who gives you orders, and your to follow them to your very death Soldier.  He hasn't lost a battle yet, so without further ado, Psalms 34:17-20:
17 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears
and delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all.
20 He keeps all his bones;
not one of them is broken.

That's our general Spartan, let's move.....

Where the armor? Found the Armor! Wear the armor.....

The Armor of God!  I love reading about spiritual warfare, God just really bolsters my confidence and trust in him when I started to learn about the Armor and Weapons we as believers have in Christ.  I am really digging the armor passage that is talked about in Ephesians 6:10-17

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ok Spartans!  Tell me this isn't an awesome passage!  There is a little more about the armor that paul talks about in Romans 13:12 and 2 Corinthians 6:7:
Romans 13:12- 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

2 Corinthians 6:7- 7 in truthful speech and in the power of God; with armor of righteousness in the right hand and in the left;

Time to get SERIOUS!  This armor is ordained to Christians that know Christ, when Paul says put on, he never says anything about taking this armor off.  I love verse 10's (read up some cross referrence's on Phillipians 4:13, 2nd Timothy 2:1) Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his Might!  That SHOULD END with an EXCLAMATION.  Satan already lost guys!  We worship the risen son of God and he lives in us, his ressurrection defeated death and sin forever!  What can Satan POSSIBLY DO to us?  Does this mean we dawn the armor we are no longer tempted?  Nope, but in disciplining yourselves in the Word,  we are gonna be a whole lot better of a soldier for God.  In 6:11, and 13 God starts both passages saying "put on the whole armor" basically guys, as Christians in Christ's army you aren't taking this off, you are living in the Armor as long as you are on earth, or your susceptible to the "wiles" of the devil. (Which is in the original version)  Wiles means schemes, so your protecting yourself from schemes?  Not exactly: the Devil is crafty, clever, and deceptive, and he rules the world of his demonic hosts.....  Sounds bad right?  Every sin fits under and is encompassed in the term wiles, if Satan is causing you to stumble he is doing his job.  What exactly does it say about Satan in the scripture?  Ruler of Demons (Luke 11:15) God of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4) the possible best description: the prince of power in the air (Ephesians 2:2) sounds bad indeed, what hope is there?

The Homeless

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=603637144#!/note.php?note_id=491442780629&id=1031624691

Exodus 23:6- "Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits.

Ok I read this and my soul started wreaking havoc on me. I felt ashamed, embarrassed to be from a "biblical"-christian-community" known in the bible belt part of the state; yes, I felt bad to be known as a Lubbock Texan cause of this. You trying to tell me that we are outlawing being a homeless citizen? Want to tell me which Bible proclaims that Lubbock City Council? I got 2 right n front of me, and here's what THEY SAY about our treatment of the homeless.......

JAMES 2:1-13!

My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show favoritism. 2Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in. 3If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, "Here's a good seat for you," but say to the poor man, "You stand there" or "Sit on the floor by my feet," 4have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
5Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? 6But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? 7Are they not the ones who are slandering the noble name of him to whom you belong? 8If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbor as yourself,"[
a] you are doing right. 9But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. 10For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. 11For he who said, "Do not commit adultery,"[b] also said, "Do not murder."[c] If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker. 12Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, 13because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!

What about what the bible says about the Poor?  Here's what God does for them:
1.Regards them as equally with the rich:

Job 34:19: who shows no partiality to princes and does not favor the rich over the poor, for they are all the work of his hands?

Proverbs 22:2 Rich and poor have this in common: The LORD is the Maker of them all.

2. Protects them from their oppressors:
Psalms 35:10- My whole being will exclaim, "Who is like you, O LORD ? You rescue the poor from those too strong for them, the poor and needy from those who rob them."

Psalms 12:5- "Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD. "I will protect them from those who malign them."

3. Exalts them.
I LOVE THIS VERSE! 1st Samuel 2:8- He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. "For the foundations of the earth are the LORD's; upon them he has set the world.

Psalms 107:41- But he lifted the needy out of their affliction and increased their families like flocks.

4. He is THE REFUGE OF:
Psalms 14:6- You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.

5. He Provides for them:
Psalms 68:10- Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, O God, you provided for the poor.

Ok by going against the poor Council you are literally fighting God, and he wins no question.... Did you forget that his very SON, THAT SAVED YOU, WHO IS LORD OF ALL, Exsisted a poor man?
Matthew 8:20- And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.

He Preached to them; with their needs in his mind:
Luke 4:18- "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed,

Alright if this aint hitting home for you what does the bible teach about Neglecting our poor brethren? 3 inparticular sectionts that should totally be rocking these Law breakers:
1. Matthew 25:42-45- For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' 44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' 45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

2. 1 John 3:17- If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him?

3. THE HARDEST HITTER James 2:15-17- 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

That is pretty much calling your very belief out! WE AS CHRISTIANS are called even to Defend them, and do Justice for them:
Psalms 82:3,4- 3Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. 4Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
We aren't to be unjust towards, or deny them their rights.
Exodus 23:6- "Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits.

There is much more on the subject of the poor, but with just this you can hopefully grasp the idea of oppressing the poor the way our council has, and how bad it really is. I am making a letter to the council and this is going to be in their as well as a few more verses. I hope that of the few of you that read this, you get the same conviction I did to OPPOSE THIS CRAP! God cares deeply for the poor of this world, and when we oppress them we are pretty much guaranteeing ourselves a really rough future.

Certain Characters that God used in the Old Testament that either were poor, or showed favor of the poor were some of the following:  Gideon in Judges 6:15 Ruth exemplified in Ruth 2:2 Boaz in Ruth 2;14 Job in Job 29:12-16 Zaccheus in Luke 19:8. Dorcas was MAGINFICENT at it in Acts 9:36,39.

Ok people, I pray that this oppression ends, and that God is magnified through all of this.  The poor deserve better than this, I know God will save them even if we don't but I know I can do just this little bit here to maybe help their situation out. All Praise and Glory are his.

God is Jealous FOR us

Ok so now I am going to use logic; let me emphasize the word Jealous.

1. Jealous when used as an envious/spiteful reaction (which this mistake, that led Oprah to her demise) is generally defined in a negative way.  For short we are going to call this form of Jealous "of"
2. Jealous when used to emphasize care and worth in belonging to the user, can also be bad, but in our case I'll show you why it isn't.  We are going to call this form of Jealosy "for"

So using a logic equation we get 4 responses wo what I have said only 2 of which can be right.
1. God is jealous "of" me?  (REALLY?!  Oprah really, How you get so bad....)
2. God is jealous "for" me? (Thought provoking....)

Remember when I said we were gonna use the word love in replace of God?  Many jealous actions can be made in Love that are indeed pardonable, I would even say it magnifies the love and care of the individual who became Jealous.  If your spouse cheats, Jealousy takes charge in showing the worth of the spouse who got cheated on (Am I not good enough for you?  OR Don't I deserve better?  OR what do you see in him/her that you don't see in me?)  The cheating can be completely detrimental to the relationship.....  So now using the complex word Love we replace God and you come up with these questions....
1.  God in Love is Jealous "of" me?  (That don't make sense....)
2.  God in Love is Jealous "for" me?  (I really hope that the light is going off.....)

God selfishly wants you for himself, he is the God that is love and the God that is willing to forgive in your worship of other things over himself..  Yes even in Oprah's confused mind, God is willing to forgive her.  In God's selfishness of you he has shown through his son, just how much he selflessly humble he became to have you.  Coming down from heaven, the blessed glorious kingdom you created, into a sinful world where you would be rejected in, you watched from the beginning, that you had this plan from the beginning.  You would be rejected, bruised, beaten, tortured mocked and put to death on a tree, when you did NOTHING wrong.  You did it, to make your enemies (those that still have your wrath over them) just know you.  With our choosing to follow we get even more from you.  As if heaven weren't already enough we get the Spirit to help us on earth, we get to grow in wisdom, lead a blessed life, and hopefully lead others in making the same choice.  I THANK GOD FOR BEING SO JEALOUS "FOR" ME.

God is Jealous... Read this if it bothers you

Alright; the passage in scripture that fuels the belief of the most powerful woman in the world....  God is a jealous God.  Well if you went as far as Oprah did in your thinking and you came to the conclusion that God is jealous of you, then I'm here to correct that.  Using scripture and logic I'm going to determine what that Jealousy really is...  Oprah you FAIL SO HARD!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB4J1JpG_PA  Just skip to about 1:40 to hear the story, but don't watch if you don't want want to throw up.

Ok I did a BUNCH of Bible referrening here; while I wholeheartedly recommend opening up a bible and reading the passages I use, know there there are ALOT of them....  Alright our tools we are going to use to determine what the Christian's God Jealousy are all about.  First off, we aren't running from this fact, The scripture calls God a Jealous God in 2 passages:

1st place: Joshua 24:19  But Joshua said to the people, "You cannot serve the LORD, for He is a holy God (You aren't Oprah.)   He is a jealous God;  He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
Interrpretted as:  This is part of old man Joshua's Second speech after the Israelites had successfully driven the Canaanites out (Chapter 11)  He is talking about if the israelites ever start worshipping other idols how God is Jealous (He LOVES Isael), and always will be (read on into verse 20, and continue to witness the Israelites commitment to serving God alone.)

2nd Place:  Nahum 1:2  God is jealous, and the LORD avenges;  The LORD avenges and is furious.  The LORD will take vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath on his enemies.
Interpretted as:  This is clarifying the God's eternal love for the Kingdom of Israel, and how angry he gets when his children commit spiritual adultery against him.  (which they have, God dispersed them because of this ((Deuteronomy 4:27, and Deuteronomy 28:64)....  And James whole letter is immediately addressed to the dispersed tribes of Israel ((James 1:1)). lol weird Parenthesis usage, but you get it.  He did Scatter them to in Zechariah 7:14 "But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they had not known.  Thus the land became desolate after them, so that no one passed through or returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate."

Ok so again, I'M NOT RUNNING FROM THE FACT GOD IS JEALOUS, time to tackle this absurdity of it being directed of "me/us" using some logic.  I'm gonna start with the traits of God......
1. Eternal (Deuteronomy 33:27)
2. Immortal (there is a difference between immortal and eternal; 1st Timothy 1:17, 6:16)
3. Omnipotent (Genesis 17:1)
4. Omniscient (Psalms 139:1-6, Proverbs 5:21)
5. Omnipresent (Psalms 139:7)
6. Immutable or unchanging (Psalms 102: 26-27)
7. Perfect (Matthew 5:48)
8. Holy (Psalms 99:9, Isaiah 5:16)
I could even say uncontainable (1st Kings 8:27 <-*REALLY COOL VERSE* and Jeremiah 23:24) or how about many declarations in scripture of none equalling himself......  (Isaiah 43:10, Deuteronomy 33:26, Isaiah 44:6, and Exodus 15:11 just naming a few....)

Do I need to list any traits of man to understand no one comes close to equalling GOD?  Jealousy of something is wanting something the other person has, it is envious; that which our God as described above couldn't possibly have (read those none equalling him verses if you don't get it yet.)  So God is Jealous?  How about a New Testament view of God for a second, he has other traits of personality, and I am going to pick his greatest one....
1. LOVE which is the one I am going to use (1st John 4:8, 4:16)
2. Light (James 1:17, 1st John 1:5)
3. The only one who is wise (Romans 16:27, 1st Timothy 1:17)
4. Merciful (Psalms 86:5)
5. Longsuffering (Numbers 14:18)
6. Gracious (Psalms 116:5)
7. Compassionate (2nd Kings 13:23
8. My favorite, A CONSUMING FIRE (Hebrew 12:29)

I am gonna make this a 2 parter...
