Proverbs 31 Continuing on where we left off, we get to see more amazing qualities of our sought after wife as Christian men. Which I am going to make one over the Husband next time, so no worries guys, we get an awesome example of how to be to our wives. Ok Continuing where I left off at verse 21.
Verse 21: When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
Interpretted as: Both literally and VERY spiritually. Because of her earlier works in verse 13 (the clothes she makes) her children are always kept warm and safe because of mommies planning ahead :) But the SCARLET part really jumped out. Her kids, likely because of moms astoudingly great example, are already saved, and has prepared her kids in far more ways than than just earthly/physical security. VERY cool verse
Verse 22: She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
Interpretted as: Well, I'll admit this is my own thinking, but the efforts that she made in her servitude to others have made her queenly in her own right. Purple was a dignifying color of that time, and often indicated royalty, so again this verse could indicate how God has Likely blessed her graciously from above.
Verse 23: Her husband is repsected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
Interpretted as: Guys your hearts should be getting rocked right now, get on your knees and pray for a wife that brings such honor in her goodness that she literally is a part of the reason you are respected among the wiser and more respectable community; in your church, or job. This woman by being herself in her trust in God has literally made an impact on your very image. Earlier in Proverbs 18:22 it states: He who finds a good wife has found a GOOD THING (it is all capssed to, expressing emphasis. and God claims things good in genesis one) and has favor in the Lord. Proven right here.
Verse 24: She makes linen Garments and sells them, and supplies the mechants with sashes.
Interpretted as: I just realized that the wife in this chapter is continually creating things with her hands, this could indicate her good moral nature, and creative mind. Anyway, INTERPRETTED AS: This is her hobby, and again so perfect in that she helps her family out in the trading commerce. Could be taken as cultural, but I think the message shows itself.
The BIG verses of this chapter are verses 25-27. These verses are the Character of the model wife of the bible, so pay VERY CLOSE ATTENTION. I tried going all out on these.
Verse 25: She is clothed in strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
Interpretted as: This woman knows and fears God, she feels completely and utterly protected in him (inward sense, but it boasts on the outside), so much so, that she bravely stands firm in the unknowable future. She literally is clothed (inwardly), in joy and peac,e so much so she can laugh through the rest of her days.
Verse 26: She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
Interpretted as: Understanding that the whole idea of the book of proverbs is growing your moral wisdom by fearing God and asking of it, you get that this woman, again is exemplified in this character pillar. Her tongue is chastened and literally bridled by the law of God and faithfully as well. She can do/teach no wrong.
Verse 27: She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idlenss.
Interpretted as: Ok, this verse should prove beyond the shadow of any doubt that man and woman work together in dominion. She watches the affairs of her household, could be translated as their household. This is her managing ability, her scheduling, as you may already know, it practically perfect, and why she is so good of a wife. The "bread of idleness" has a cool meaning in Hebrew it means "eyes looking everywhere" again, she has more than proven she isn't lazy, in fact she delights in working, so this verse just reinforced that into her character.
Verse 28 and 29, describes (or I should say reinforces) her family life.
Verse 28: Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:
Interpretted as: Perhaps more than ever it needs to be understood just how sanctified a Godly family is. look at 1st Timothy 2:15: "Woman will be saved (seed of woman back in Genesis) through childbearing- if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety." I can't understand the kind of joy it would bring a Godly mother to hear her kids praise her for her Godly teachings and practically her words being the source of their wisdom as they grow. Momma always said.... Yeah mom's/wives I hope yall keep this teaching to heart, if nothing else. The husband I think, needs to see this verse. I see that our mom gets sort of taken advantage of sometimes, and she doesn't get full credit when it is do so remeber next time you get up, praise God than her for how lucky you gotta be to get a wife like this.
Verse 29: (Remember this is the husband's praises to her/you) "many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."
Interpretted as: The husband's heartfelt praise for the wife God blessed him with. He surely knows he doesn't deserve her.
Verses 30 and 31: Her spiritual life summarized, just as important if not moreso, than her character and family life.
Verse 30: Charm is deceptive, and beauty fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Interpretted as: basically while charm and beaty can be good, in this context they aren't and the woman who fears God, is something to be far more respectable and cherished deeper, than the looks or lips of the beautiful. What a great book, it ends where it begins in it's teachings of fearing the Lord Back in verse 1:7
Verse 31: Final verse; Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Essentailly what her husband said back in 29, but everyone should say it. The reward she has earned, is again her blessings and reward in heaven, as a gift of God so shall she return to her creator bearing the same worth. Finally, her family, and her works will be her praise, the end to the bible's best account of the great wife.
The woman reading that are Christian, I ask that you see this as just as an example outline, but this is an achievable character to be, but only in favor of God and his gifts of wisdom and by your fruits of the spirit shall this woman/you ever be achieved. Guys, let's face it, as Christians if you find a woman like this you should adorn her and praise her like your a crazy person. God has one out there, you gotta ask for her though, and then look out. Even non-Christian women who read can understand how epic of a masterpeice this woman is, I hope that again this outline will push you to be more like this woman. Haha, The husband next? Yes, there is a shorter outline, but just as meaningful of an outline of the greatest husband ever, to perhaps the greatest wife. Jesus to His church found in Ephesians 5:25-33. If the woman that read this are interested it iwll be coming soon, for now Peace and love my brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift comes from who? THE FATHER of heavenly gifts. So ask for your merciful gift of characters described in these 2 sections. Love and Peace. Peace....
i agree with u. i think it is an achievable character for me to be! thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis is defiantly something to strive to be! I work at it all the time, verse 30 is my FAVORITE verse, but it's always good to read something like this and be reminded!! Thanks Jaxson!!
ReplyDeleteWell done Jaxson!! They just keep getting better! I really appreciate you taking the time to focus on matters like the characters of your fellow believers! What an encouragement!
ReplyDeleteThis sometimes feels like an impossible standard, and I know that I sometimes wonder if I slack on a few of these things, if anyone would notice. What I should be wondering is would God notice? And of course, the answer is YES!!! So even more than using these examples and instructions to please my future husband, which is of course very important, I should be using them to please God! Thanks for another awesome blog, Jaxson!
ReplyDeleteHey Thanks Everyone! If I have to pinpoint the reason I am making these blogs is to help out the fellow believers in my life, or who wander into it. That would have to be reason number 1, and reason 2 is of course checking myslef, and making sure I am not getting it all wrong of course. HAHA anyway I appreciate all the encouraging words, and was wondering what yall think the next blog should be over? 1. A Jealous God? 2. Praying prayer using the bible? or 3. Walking in Love? I'll let you 3 decide!
ReplyDeleteJaxson,
ReplyDeleteYou already know I think this was great. I was reading Proverbs 21 earlier and check out what I found...
vs. 9 "Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife."
vs. 19 "Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife."
Just to think that it would be better to go to the extremes of living on the corner of you roof, or in a desert, than living with an unpleasant/argumentative wife is an intense concept to grasp. God gives us so many examples about how important our character is as a woman, I'm glad you took the time to write some :)
Personally, I would be interested in any of those options.
Ryanna your Blogger pic is beautiful! And I am gonna make em all, just don't know in what succession, I think I'll go with A jealous God first though, since I think that passage bothers a lot of people.
